In fall 2008, WellMed opened this senior center in South San Antonio at no cost to seniors age 60 years and over. It is named after Elvira Cisneros, an inductee of the Texas Women’s Hall of Fame and mother of former Mayor Henry Cisneros. The senior center features state-of-the-art exercise equipment, a variety of exercise programs, dance and yoga classes, computer room, WII fit room, library, and more. It also provides a daily lunch for seniors on a donation basis through a partnership with the City of San Antonio’s Department of Community Initiatives. With almost 2000 members, the Elvira Cisneros Center Community Center by WellMed has become one of the most active senior centers in the city.
